A short art film/Documentary focusing on the on-going and *now* significantly predominant epidemic within the cornucopia of LGBTQIA+ people, specifically amongst queer men and men that have sexual intercourse with other men. Saudade will tell a story of a young man who has been caught up in the parallel world of Chemsex - a visual class for those that are unaware of the danger.
Throughout the film, contortionist/contemporary styled dancing will be blocked in, this will be strategically introduced to symbolise the complexities of queer relationships... Think of an elastic band that becomes brittle when overstretched, mirroring the fragility of these bonds queer men attempt to build over and over again.
With a score mixed with classical strings, choral sounds and hints of electronic beats, the film will be tied together with a physical illustrations/ poetry book that will explore themes of rejection, internalised homophobia, fear, HIV/AIDS, Masculinity and femininity. Topics that permeate the minds of most queer men.
A lesson that can be enjoyed without being overly informative.
